Declan has started making an odd little face. He makes a big closed mouth frown with his bottom lip out but he's not upset. Its just a weird face. Such a nut.

Staring at Trees
Mommy and Declan had a wonderful day today. After a normal morning of breakfast, bottles and bum changes we packed up the park necessities and headed out. A half hour walk to the park, we found a big tree to sit under for some shade. Laid out our picnic blanket and stretched out. Declan was in the best spirits because there was so much to look at. A large butterfly flew by, the leaves on the trees were russling, birds were chirping and he'd brought along his best bud Monkey too.
Since there were lots of neat things to look at Mommy thought maybe Declan would lay on his tummy for a bit instead of the immediate roll-over. Placed him down and he stayed on his tummy just slightly longer than normal but there was a slight incline where we were laying so when he rolled over he rolled right on to his side and almost kept going. Mommy did get the little man to sit up for quite a while by placing him sitting up with his laptop toy computer. He is still very wobbly but he is most certainly getting better with his balance.
While we were at the park Daddy's work day ended so before driving home he headed over to the park to see his little boy. He saw us right away. Drove close to where we were, parked the car and as soon as he got out Declan spied him. Flashed big grins at his daddy, so happy to see him. So Daddy visited at the park for a few minutes with Mommy and Declan and got to enjoy the kids crazy park giggles.
After Daddy left Declan had some bottle and took a nice parklife nap. He jumped every few minutes
at the sound of big kids playing in the park but overall it was a nice fresh air nap. Once the little park nap was over we packed it in and headed home.
This evening Declan had a lot of assisted sitting playtime. He has no butt so it will take a lot of practice to get the sitting up alone mastered. He also put weight on his legs for Mommy today even if it was only about 10 seconds. That's an improvement over...well...no weight on his legs so we're pleased. The best development though was after dinner when Declan was playing with his baby laptop. Mommy placed it down on the floor for him and then put Declan tummy down so he could play with it. We watched him lay there with his toy for over 10 minutes - a huge improvement for our little Declan.
The rest of the evening was simply smiles and giggles. We had to put him to bed at 9pm even though he was still awake because he just wanted to hang out but because Daddy needs to get to bed early because of work. Declan talked away to himself which is pretty amusing over the baby monitor for a few minutes before drifting off to baby slumberland. Tomorrow Declan gets to see Chelsey, Molly, McGregor and Abigale for the afternoon. Best rest up cutie!!

Easy Baby
Declan was in good spirits all day today. Perhaps he likes it when Mommy and Daddy are both home all day.
This afternoon we all went for a walk down Main Street and then came home for BBQ dinner with Auntie T and Uncle Scott. Declan really is such a sweet and easy baby. When 8:30pm rolled around and Declan was in pjs but all bright eyed still, Mommy took him to bed, turned down the lights, pressed play on his baby music and said goodnight.
Declan simply went right to sleep. Such a good egg.

Core Strength
Little D is getting stronger in his midsection as he is trying to sit up on his own. Now he can't get into a seated position on his own but when placed in the position he can hold it for a few seconds. Ok nothing phenomenal or really all that newsworthy just yet but Mommy and Daddy are still proud of his development.

Whoa Jumpin'
Late this morning Declan and Mommy set out on a long walk for some fresh air and views on the world. Destination...Wal-Mart plaza and home again which would be just over 2 hours walk. Going out in the stroller is much more interesting for Declan who has a wider perspective on his surroundings now that we don't use the car-seat part of his stroller any more. He can stretch out and kick his legs and he can see easily 180 degrees and where we're going rather than where we've been. The little guy only slept about 10 minutes just before we reached the Wal-Mart plaza. What woke the little prince up? That would be the lawn sprinkler that got Mommy and Declan just as we turned into the plaza. Mommy appreciated the refresher as it was very warm out and Declan didn't mind, it simply woke him from his slumber.
Once inside the store Mommy pulled back Declan's stroller canopy so that he could see around the place which elicited grins from the muffin. "Just the baby section and we're out of here" Mommy assured Declan and the hunt began. The goal: Jolly Jumper. What we found in the baby section were a mat that makes funny sounds when you step on it - perfect under jumper mat AND a Jolly Jumper. Declan seemed to approved of the selection so we grabbed some batteries for the mat and....that's when I noticed. Declan was smiling at me and then looking up to his right...then looking back at me with a smile, then back again up to his right. What did he see? What was he trying to tell me? Declan was telling me that he had a new discovery. We had a hitchhiker. A moth. A decrepit beige moth was hanging out in Declan's stroller, going for a ride. Declan was amused as was Mommy that Declan was both aware of its presence but also that he was able to bring attention to it. (Look carefully in the picture and you'll see it.)
Then we headed over to Declan's bank to deposit his latest monthly cheques into his account. Declan charmed the ladies at the bank with his grin and long, loud sighs. Then Mommy told him he was rich which he was thrilled to hear.
Then it was time to make the trek back home but Daddy was done work for the day and he was in Milton in the car so we made a little request for him to rescue us from making the long walk back home. Daddy obliged and we set up a blanket on a grassy spot for a bum change while we waited the few minutes for our pick up.
When we returned home we were met with a visit from Declan's Grandma and Grandpa Gale as well as Aunt Stephanie and Uncle Mike. The little guy hung out with them for a short visit before the sleepy took over and he needed to head in for an afternoon nap.
Later in the afternoon it was time. Time to try the Jolly Jumper. Set it up, adjusted the height, strapped Declan in, batteries in the musical mat and it was go time!
DECLAN LOVED IT! He bounced around in the Jumper for 40 minutes and he squealed the entire time. It was great to watch him holding his head up so well and using his legs for momentum. He was kicking non-stop, so much energy. Mommy and Daddy were laughing their butts off because we've never seen the kid go crazy like this for so long. It really tired him out. We finally took him down for his dinner and he fell asleep before he finished his last bites. Too tired even to drink any of his bottle. Down for a quick 20 minute nap to recover and then he was up for that bottle his belly knew he'd been missing. 7:20pm and he was out for the night.
I wish there was a Jolly Jumper in my size.

Cranky Babysitting
Late afternoon Mommy & Daddy went out to see The Dark Knight Rises and little Declan hung out with Auntie T, Uncle Scott, Madison and Josh.
How was Declan? According to his Aunt, "weird".
The rundown: "He played then cried while eating which was hilarious beyond belief...then slept for half an hour...cried for an hour...then sat in his chair kicking and squealing for an hour not wanting to talk to anyone but cracking us up".
Oh what a nut. Declan has been moody this week, I'm thinking teething or growth spurt. Whatever it is he is less predictable than normal and he's been whining quite a bit. Of course we still love him so very much and he might just be the cutest moody little man ever.
...and I still can't wait until morning to see his little face again.

The Fountain
Daily Declan notes
Our little man was all cute and snuggly on Mommy's lap while Daddy ate dinner. Once finished we decided to change Declan into his Jammie's because he'd need a bum change anyway, something just didn't smell right.
Placed onto his change table Declan was all happy, waving arms, kicking legs but we just new something was in the air.
Mommy undoes the diaper while Daddy secures little Declan's arms and then, gross liquid poop. Mommy removes the diaper and apparently opens the tap to the pee fountain that would get Daddy and soak Declan.
What a mess.

Fascinating Faces
The weather was slightly cooler today, if 32 degrees is really cool, so Mommy and Declan got out for a nice long walk. Declan got to sit in the stroller without the car seat again so his little feet were free and kicking. It gave him a new vantage point on his world. Then again he slept 75% of the walk so he didn't see all that much after all.
Declan just loves discovering faces and this resulted in some fun for Daddy today. Little Declan licked Daddy's nose and tried to tear his ear right from his head. All while squealing with delight. Funny Declan.

COOKIE!!!
Today held a new experience for our little prince. It was cookie day!!
In order for Declan to work on his motor skills and to encourage him to spend a little longer sitting in his Bumbo before he would get frustrated and want out we gave him his very first Baby Mum-Mum Rice cookie.
Declan didn't waste any time. He picked his cookie up off his tray right away and put it directly in his mouth.
He was examining his new treat and broke it down into lots of mushy pieces.
Thankfully Declan did very well with the pieces he ate. Mum-Mums get soft immediately so Declan didn't have difficulty swallowing any cookie he gummed apart. There was cookie everywhere.
Declan sat happily in his Bumbo and didn't complain or cry to get out while he had his cookies. He can sit up very well when motivated by something new.
And Mommy was actually able to clean Declan up. It is different when it's your own little man making the gross wet mess. He did require a wardrobe change though...cookie would just not clean up off his outfit.

Big Little Man in his Stroller
This morning Mommy, Daddy and Declan met up with Grandma May, Auntie Marissa and Alex at Cora's for breakfast. Declan was the most cooperative little man. After we all ordered our breakfast little Declan had his breakfast of pears. He happily ate them all up and then proceeded to fall into a deep late morning nap. Then when our breakfast arrived Mommy and Daddy could eat their breakfast while Declan slumbered. Then if that wasn't purfect enough timing the little man woke up just after we finished eating flashing smiles all around.
For the afternoon we all made our way over to the Vaughan Mills shopping centre. This was the first time that Declan was out in his stroller without the infant car seat part. He was so little in the big boy stroller but just so happy to have room to kick his legs and stretch out. His cousin Alex would often lean over and make funny sounds so that Declan would smile, laugh and giggle.
After the mall it was back home for dinner and Declan showing off his serious monkey face while kicking and flapping his arms. I think he really wore himself out. Not 20 minutes after goodbyes for the day the little prince was fast asleep.

Visit from Grandma May, Auntie Marissa and Cousin Alex
Today lucky little Declan's Daddy didn't have to work so he was there to play with Declan all morning. He even fed the little man his breakfast which was a new food - pear. Turns out that Declan likes Pear more than any food he has tried so far and he ate the entire 2 oz serving with enthusiasm. Yum yum!
Early this afternoon Declan's visitors arrived - Grandma May, Auntie Marissa and Cousin Alex. First Alex gave Declan a little gift - a nice book and new pjs. Then Grandma May spoiled Declan and gave him some new toys and new clothes and a floaty for the pool - holy kid...you are sooo lucky.
Declan was really happy to see them. He had big smiles for his Grandma and he was laughing and kicking his legs for everybody.
Everyone went in the pool together and Grandma got to see how Declan can be dunked under the water and didn't even cry. He also tried his new boat floaty and he seemed to enjoy splashing his hands in the water that crept into the boat. Otherwise he's still pretty mellow in the pool.
Such a lucky little boy he got tons of attention today and lots of cuddles. He enjoyed his company so much he didn't even want to go to bed. Little man stayed up past 9pm for the first time in a while. I'm sure he would have stayed up much later if Mommy didn't make him go to bed. They'll be back for another visit tomorrow Declan...don't you worry.

Family and Friends from Far
Meeting new people today, our little Declan had visits from family all the way from Calgary and an old friend of Daddy's from Collingwood.
Declan and Mommy started the day off the usual ways, bottle and back to bed then up around 9am. He had sweet potato for the fourth morning and then got changed and washed up because he had new people to visit with today.
Mommy's Aunt Stephanie and Uncle Mike dropped by with Declan's Grandma and Grandpa for a little visit. This was the first time Declan would meet his Mommy's Aunt and Uncle because they live in Calgary, Alberta. The little guy was quite content to sit on Stephanie's lap and reap all the attention. So far little D is good with new people, unless of course they are men. I don't know why but he just isn't happy with men that are not his Daddy and he cries when they get too close. Poor Mike, he just wanted to meet the little man but Declan wouldn't have it. He even visited with Grandpa from a slight distance because he cried for him last time Grandpa dropped by. The little man is going to have to toughen up a bit. It sure was nice for Mommy to see them, it's been a very long time.
Early afternoon Daddy had visitors that he hasn't had a chance to see in a long time. Daddy's friend Chris, his wife Krista and their daughters Loren and Addison were over for some swimming and BBQ. Declan seemed to enjoy all the girls around. He starred for a long time at little Addison, only 1 year old and he smiled when 4 year old Loren sang him songs - Twinkle Twinkle never sounded so good. Some mellow swimming in the pool and cuddles before bed, our guy fell asleep on Mommy's lap by the pool and was off to dreamland at 8pm.
....and Mommy fell asleep on the couch by 10pm. Long day. (Daddy was asleep by 9:30pm)

More Fun Every Day
The weather today was much cooler than it has been in quite a while so Mommy and Declan went out for a nice long walk. Declan was awake for all but 10 minutes of this walk so Mommy had to sing...A LOT! He's a blast though. We stopped on a bench at the grocery store so Declan could have a bottle and a stranger stopped to look at him and said "are you having your bottle"? I took the bottle out of Declan's mouth when she said this and he flashed her a huge grin. She responded with "Oh my what a sweetheart!" I'm so proud of my little monkey.
When it was time for Declan's dinner he quickly ate all of his rice cereal and then he closed his eyes for a nap. Poor Declan. We didn't want him to be uncomfortable so we freed him from his highchair so he could take a proper nap if he wanted.
After Declan was in bed Daddy told me that his new favourite thing is when Declan is sitting on his lap facing away and then he turns his head up and around to look at his Daddy and he stares at him studying his face. You can really tell by how he looks at him that Declan loves his Daddy a whole lot.

Simple Day at Home
Today was a pretty simple day with my little prince. Up at 7am for his bottle and right back to bed. U0p at 9:30am for good. Just hanging out with my guy until breakfast sweet potato at 10:30am. Day two of sweet potato was more successful. No gag reflex and he ate a bit more than 1oz. Declan sure was messy though and he sneezed part of the way through the meal which saw sweet potato all over his bib. He also had both hands in his mouth and rubbed his bib all over his face. Declan had sweet potato up his nose. Hilarious.
Declan took a little nap after his breakfast and then not long after waking up he started fussing. I tried story time, playtime, belly, side and sitting, tried his chair, tried his excersaucer, tried a bottle and tried cuddling but Declan would not calm down. He cried for about one hour straight. I am pretty certain he is teething even though we can't see teeth just yet. Finally at 1:30pm Declan fell asleep on my lap and I didn't dare move. I was so uncomfortable but it was nice that he finally calmed down and closed his eyes.
Declan was much better for the rest of the day after that nap. Daddy came home from work and he brought Declan a new Curious George book which we read a couple times.
Today was a bath day for Declan. We actually went a little long this time since his last bath - 5 days!! Declan smelled. Sorry bud.
Since Declan is always rolling right over onto his back I laid down beside Declan and encouraged him to play with his toys on his side. Later in the day after placing Declan down on his belly he actually stayed that way for a few minutes and reached for some toys. Then he started whining and rolled to his back again.
Little man is still having cereal for dinner and he eats it up without any fuss, entire 2 oz meal. He is wide mouth and smiles. I hope he can be this excited for his vegetables one day.
Tonight Declan fell asleep at 7:50pm but then woke up at 8:20pm crying so Mommy cuddled Declan for 5 minutes then took him to his crib and he's been asleep ever since.
Nothing special planned for tomorrow just yet but Declan gets to meet another old friend of Daddy's this Friday and then on Saturday we get a visit from Grandma May, Auntie Marissa and Delcan's cousin Alex. He is soooo excited.

Sweet Taters and a Playdate
My little man slept until 7:30am this morning after going to bed by 8:30pm the night before. He had his morning bottle and went right back to bed until 9:30am - love it.
For his breakfast/lunch today my man tried sweet potato. He did not like it.
Now this kid just has to eat vegetables so he's not getting off the hook with this one. I still had him eat 1oz and he'll be eating sweet potato again for the next three days. Too bad Declan. Then for being a good little man we'll try pear next.
Now it was extremely hot out today. It was over 40 degrees outside once you factor in the humidity and because of this I simply can not take little Declan outside. It is difficult to breath outside and I'm certain this weather just isn't good for wee babies. Instead Declan had a playdate inside. Mommy's friend Hayley and her little guy - Declan's friend Owen came over for a couple hours to hang out.
The boys stretched out on the floor with some toys. Now Owen is one month younger than Declan but Owen is physically an overachiever. Owen is already rolling over belly to back and back to belly. He actually prefers to be on his tummy and he will already stand up with some support from his Mommy. Declan is still just not interested in putting weight on his legs unless it is minimal and in his excersaucer. When I put Declan down on his tummy he rolls over right away to his back and that is where he stays. He isn't interested in tummy time at all. He was curious about Owen though and he was reaching for him. Held his hand, touched his face and even pinched his nose. Then Owen got too close for comfort and Declan cried a short little cry. Silly muffin. Got to toughen this one up a bit. Overall though it wasn't too bad of a playdate for a 4 month and 5 month old. It will be sweet to see them play together when they are close to a year old.
Well the day wore the man out and Declan fell asleep on Mommy's lap at 7:50pm. Put to bed at 8:05pm and he is still out. We'll see if he makes it through the entire night again. I am so thankful that Declan is such a good sleeper.

Whoa - That's Loud
This afternoon after Daddy got home Declan had some time in his excersaucer and he sat upright. Every time he has sat in it this week he has leaned forward and then gets tired pretty quickly. Today, sitting upright and putting more weight on his (one) foot he was having a much easier time playing with all the toys attached to it.
At one point in the afternoon while Declan was sitting on my lap Hunter came over and sat beside me. Declan reached out and touched Hunters mouth. Hunter reacted by pulling his head back quickly, taking a brief look at Declan and making a run for it. Poor kitty. He has no idea what will come over the next couple years.
Late afternoon Daddy, Declan and I ran out to do a few quick errands. While at our last stop - the grocery store - Declan starting to cry. He didn't want his bottle, he didn't want to sleep, he was just so very unhappy. He cried...no, he screamed...and the tears...the whole drive home. When we got inside he kept it up and Daddy had to get him out of his carseat to console him. We changed his diaper to check if that was the problem and nope. Daddy then put him on the floor in the living room and tried to play with him. Then...giggles. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? I even checked to see if he was teething. Nope. He just decided he wanted nothing to do with our errands today and was making a statement.
At least he was in bed before 8:30pm for the second night in a row.

Another Growth Spurt?
Declan is not feverish nor does he seem to be under the weather but boy oh boy did this kid sleep the day away or what!
He didn't wake up for his first bottle until nearly 8am. Then he was awake until around 10am when he decided to take a morning nap and didn't wake again until 10:45am.
Having tried Avocado for two mornings and having Declan make a yuck face both days we've abandoned Avocado and moved onto something new - peas. This morning was the first day and we got the yuck face first and then Declan proceeded to gag. It was actually rather hilarious watching him make this face because it was new (so glad Daddy didn't have to work today so he could witness it). After trying a few spoonfulls I took pitty on the little man, fed him bananas and got rid of any remaining peas. I'll have to find a more interesting vegetable for this kid to try.
After breakfast Mommy and Daddy ran out to see an early afternoon movie and Declan hung out with his Auntie T. Again he took extra sleeps. He napped first for a 20 minutes cat nap then he fell asleep again for over an hour. We were not even gone all that long but he got in two good naps while hanging with his Aunt.
We scooped the boy up and took him down to our place and he did play for a while before napping AGAIN. He woke up for his dinner - rice cereal - YUM, then played some more.
Declan was in bed however by 8:30pm this evening. Wonderful for Mommy and Daddy but just crazy how much he slept today. I can't wait until his 6 month checkup in August to see if he's put on much weight and has grown a whole lot longer.

Meeting Daddy's Friend
Today was a special day for Daddy and Declan. One of Daddy's oldest and dearest friends - Jarred - came to visit with his lovely wife Amanda. This was the first time they got to meet the newest Good. Declan was on his very best behavior. They were kind enough to bring the little man two fun new toys that Declan will have loads of fun with. It was quite warm out today so when Daddy and Jarred hoped in the pool for a swim little Declan joined in (with Mommy's assistance of course). Jarred held Declan for a bit in the pool and Amanda sat with little D for a while before dinner. All in all a sweet visit and I think Daddy was very proud of his little guy.

Friday the Awesome
Wow! Busy day.
This morning little Declan slept until almost 7:30am when he got up for his "oh my god I'm starving" bottle. Finished it, bum change and back to bed. Didn't get up again until 9:30am and technically Mom woke him up because she wanted to get in a nice walk this morning before the day got too busy.
So an hour stroller ride in what would turn out to be quite a lot of humidity. Poor little man was all sweaty as was Mommy. Declan did stay awake for all but a mere 10 minutes of the walk. He's pretty curious.
Home in time to put together some outdoor things and get ourselves set up to enjoy an afternoon by the pool in the shade of a couple big umbrellas. Then it was time to try a new food for brunch: Avocado. Let's just say that the hunger saw him finish off about 1 oz but the taste kept him from actually eating the entire 2 oz meal. If that would have been bananas or cereal he would have polished it off. Oh well. He still has three more days of the stuff. We'll see if we have better luck tomorrow. Declan is still having 2 meals a day and did in fact polish off all of his cereal for dinner.
During our afternoon backyard day Madison also hung out with Mommy and Declan. Around 12:45pm Hayley and Declan's buddy Owen dropped by to hang out for a couple hours and go in the pool - Baby Swim! Declan showed Owen how good he is when Mommy dunks him in the pool. Then Owen got his first chance to be dunked in the water and he too did very good. A bit surprised they both were but quickly recovered. Tough little nuggets. Very nice Daddy got home from work at a good time so he joined in the fun, well, that is until Declan passed out for a very nice long nap.
This evening Declan once again got to sit atop Mommy's belly and have a giggle fest. I still don't get what is so freakin' hilarious about sitting on my belly but the kid just loves it. Madison snapped a whole lot bunch of photos of the kid laughing like crazy.
About 7:30 Declan had a nice bath with his lavender soap and body cream, got into his jammies and then hung out with Madison for his nightime bottle. He still had a bit of the giggles but eventually he calmed down somewhat. Then for some snuggles with Mom before heading down for the night. Whew...Mom is tired.

Crazy Giggle Monkey
Declan's day started off with cuddles and playtime with Auntie T and Madison. Since today was still banana day Madison gave Declan his breakfast. It was all over Declan's face. I was lead to believe he grabbed his bib and rubbed it on his face. Of course I also heard that there were airplanes involved in the banana delivery so there are lots of ways banana could have ended up all over his face.
Today was actually the 2nd day where our little man had two meals in a day. He had his bananas for breakfast and then had his rice cereal for dinner. Ate it all up. He really has a good appetite. Tomorrow we're trying Avocado for the first time.
This evening I had so much fun with Declan. I was laying on the floor with Declan sitting up on my belly. He was looking down at me and giggling. Then I pulled him forward so he was laying on top of me on his belly and he continued to giggle and squeal. Back sitting up and down to my face, then back again for 20 minutes he just kept giggling and squealing. I was exhausted from laughing so hard and getting a belly workout as Declan was being bounced on my belly as I kept laughing.
It has to be mentioned also that this kid wouldn't shut up today. He's been going on and on all day. In fact later this evening he was babbling and I tried to say something to Tyler and Declan proceeded to talk louder and over me. Little bum!

Whoa Kitty
This afternoon as I was placing Declan down on the floor Hunter ran over an laid down right where I was putting Declan. I said "look out kitty" and just then Declan reached down and grabbed a hold of Hunter's fur and pulled. Poor kitty. Hunter didn't waste a moment he looked to see what was happening, glanced at Declan and just ran. Declan was left with a huge handful of hair.
Poor Hunter. Such a good kitty to resist fighting back or reacting badly. Declan is very curious of Hunter.

New Coolest Toy Ever
Today Mommy and Declan joined Aunti T, Madison and Josh at Coras for breakfast. This meant that Declan would be eating his bananas in a restaurant for the first time. We arrived and just after we ordered our breakfast Declan chowed down enthusiastically on his yummy bananas. The whole container and he was so well behaved. He didn't make a mess and simply got down to business. Declan was so cooperative. After his belly was full he proceeded to take a nice long baby nap just as our meals arrived so that the rest of us could eat. I hope Declan isn't saving up bad behaviour for his teens because he is such an angel right now.
After breakfast Mommy and Declan took a mini walk through the Milton Mall and then made the long 1 hour walk home. It was a warm one. Aunti T, Madison and Josh drove home and ran some errands on the way. When Mommy and Declan were about 20 minutes from home Madison sent a text saying; "OMG hurry home so you can see what we got Declan".
Well what a nice surprise. Declan came home to a brand new Excersaucer Splash. It rocks, it bounces, you can play with water in it, it has a holder for snacks and drinks and lots and lots of cool toys attached AND it will encourage the little man to put some weight on his legs. This is great since he's been resistant to standing at all.
In his new Excersaucer Declan put his feet flat down on the bottom and you could see his little toes turn a bit white as he put some pressure on his toes. Yay Declan! What a great new toy from his Aunt. It's already all drooled up.

Rain Date
Today Declan had his rain date and got to see Chelsey and go for a swim. While they were side by side on the table getting changed into their bathing suits Declan reached over and was hanging onto Chelseys sun dress. They as Daniella was trying to get Chelsey's swimsuit on Declan reached over and was hanging onto it making it a wee bit difficult. Once they were in the pool together they held hands under water briefly. So cute. Chelsey was having a great time in the water and was splashing around. Even got Declan in the face but he didn't mind. Happy little fishies.

Declan Loves his Daddy
Today Mommy had to run out and finish some errands which meant that Declan was lucky to have some alone time with Daddy. I'm not sure what they get up to when I'm not arround but the little man is always in the best of moods when I get home. What I know for certain is that Declan sure does love his Dad.
Since Daddy didn't have to work today he was able to be there with the little man the whole day. Daddy was able to feed Declan his bananas and see for himself how happy he is to eat them up. All 2 oz's with mouth wide open for each spoonful.
In the early evening Mommy was holding Declan and Daddy was holding Hunter so little man and kitty got to check each other out, up close. While Hunter was nervously sniffing at Declan's face, Declan had a huge, gummy, open and excited smile. It didn't last too long as Hunter was a bit unsure of how he felt about the interaction.
And one little treat. Today was Uncle Scott's Birthday and everyone was eating cake. Declan was staring at Mommy's cake and flashing her grins. While I tried really hard to ignore his charms everyone else kept commenting on how badly he wanted the cake and how sweet he was being. Well, since Declan hurt Uncle Scott's feelings once before by crying when he would see him it seemed a great chance to warm to him. Mommy told Scott that it would be ok to give Declan a little taste of the whipped cream, no chocolate, strawberries or icing, just the whipped cream. So Uncle Scott happily gave Declan a little taste and he was oh so happy to have it. Not much later the evening caught up with the munchkin as his started to tucker out close to 8pm. Brought him back downstairs and got him into his jammies. A small bottle and the little guy was down for the count.

5 Months Old
Wow.
I can't believe our little family has been complete for 5 months already.
Daddy was able to watch how enthusiastically our little man eats up his bananas. The whole 2 oz worth. Quite the eager little eater. He still stares at our food. I bet he can't wait to dig right into ours.
Had a little outing today and visited Daddy's new work - Chapters/Indigo in Oakville. Declan got two new books. Of course we read them today...and will read them many more times to come. Declan still gets very excited for his stories.
The little man even got to Skype with Grandma and Grandpa May and Aunt Marissa and Alex. Lots to do when you're the big 5 months.
This evening I placed Declan down on his mats with his toys. He grabs at his feet and kicks and kicks and before you know it he's turned himself around 180 degrees. Then he proceeds to work his way round back where he started and wiggle a little to the left. Won't be too long before I'll need to make sure I've always got an eye on this one.
10pm and he was still wide awake but he's such a good boy. We took him to bed and put on his lullaby music and he has fallen asleep without any fuss or crying.
Thanks for the best 5 months...

Declan is Not Going to Like Me But...
I just have to share.
This evening Declan was sleepy at about 9pm and I was holding him and talking with his Auntie T when he let out the loudest toot! Teresa and I couldn't stop laughing. I had tears. Teresa said "you better check that diaper!"
At least now he's empty.

Daddy is So Funny
Well poor Declan. Mommy had to cancel his play dates for today because she was still sick. Grandma Gale come over to hang out with the little guy while Daddy was at work so Mommy could get some sleep. So he had a nice time with his Grandma and got lots of snuggles and songs.
This evening Declan was playing with Daddy and he wa laughing nonstop. Apparently Daddy is hilarious. Not sure why he finds him so funny but he just couldn't stop giggling. They were super cute together.

Boring Day for Declan
I felt bad for Declan today. I think I've come down with the flu and as such had very little energy for playtime today. Poor Declan, I was no fun. He did have a new discovery today and that was Hunter. He's felt his tail before and Hunter has nudged him but today was the first time I saw Declan look right at Hunter and watch him walk away. Then Declan looked back at me and gave a one sided grin. So that's it, he has discovered the cat. Look out Hunter!

Cereal Monkey
Day 3 of solid food and we're still on rice cereal but even though it is plain and pasty my monkey just loves it.
I think Declan knows what to expect as soon as I wheel the high chair over because he starts flashing big smiles and waving his arms before I'm even ready to strap him in. He is very well behaved while I'm adjusting the straps and setting up the tray. He waits while his cereal cools down and then once I approach him with the bowl and spoon in hand the arms start going. He still anticipates the spoon with open mouth and eats the entire mini meal. One more day of rice cereal and then we can introduce....Bananas!
Overall it wasn't a very eventful day. Mommy and Declan went for a walk this morning, then beakfast, then simply playtime and naps throughout the day. Nothing too exciting planned for tomorrow either but Thursday will be baby dates and pool time so rest up as much as you can little mister so lots of fun can be had.
