Big Day Today

This evening Declan announced that he had to poop. He was heading upstairs to grab a pull-up to put on when I asked if he'd like to sit on the little potty instead. At first he said no he was getting a pull-up. Then I asked if he was sure, maybe he'd like to use the little potty.
That's when he said he did want to try it. He helped me set it up in the bathroom and I explained that he still had to pee in the big toilet as usual and just use the little potty to poop.
It took nearly 30 minutes.
Daddy and I waited patiently outside the bathroom door.
Then it happened.
Declan called to say he'd pooped.
He was pretty pleased with himself and the first thing he wanted to do was call Kelly.
"She's going to be so proud of me."
So I called her on speaker phone. When Kelly answered I'd barely begun to explain why I was calling when Declan interjected with "I pooped on the potty Kelly!"
And how did she respond?
"You did? I'm so very proud of you Declan."
He was so happy.
Daddy also told him how proud he was of Declan for using the potty.
I told Declan how proud I was that he was willing to try something new.
It was a really good day for Declan.
His little friend Natalya at Daycare also brought him a rock.
And I think when you're 4 and a sweet little girl gives you a rock it's a big deal. At least that's what it seemed like when it was the first thing he showed me when I walked in the door after work this evening.
