BMs

A sign that little Declan is growing up, his BMs do not cause 1-2 hr crying sessions. Now he is still fussy and obviously in discomfort but he isn't crying nonstop. After the fussy period he calmed down, went red faced and tensed up his little body. There was a look of both concentration and determination in his face followed shortly by relief. So happy for the little man.

Play Date & Crazy Smiles

Today Declan met Chelsey Shortt for the very first time. Born December 13th she is 8 weeks older than Declan and is the daughter of my good friend Daniella. They laid together on Declan's activity mat. Chelsey grabbed at Declan's ear and for a brief moment they held hands - all unintentionally of course...they are just little. Declan mostly slept but was a very content little guy overall.

During Declan's 9pm bottle he was a crazy little bundle of happiness. He had a huge grin behind his bottle staring at me. When he wasn't drinking he had the widest open mouth smile and wouldn't stop. I was smiling back and laughing which resulted in Declan's grin getting bigger, as if that were even possible. I feel really fortunate to have such an amazing little boy. I can't believe how fortunate Tyler and I are that we have him. I am amazed at the odds, should we have waited even a day longer to start trying to conceive we might have lost the opportunity to have this one special little boy in our lives. xoxo

Big Crib

Today Declan got his proper bed. Daddy built the crib that Grandma May bought for Declan before he was even born. Little Declan looks so tiny in his big crib but it wil be very useful over the next couple years. Right now it is at a height for babies but will be lowered once he can sit up and it becomes a day bed once he's outgrown the crib. Daddy also built the new change table for Declan and we've already taken it for a few spins this evening. Earlier today Declan had Tummy Time followed by regular play on his activity mat. Declan had so much fun that he tired himself out and couldn't stay awake to finish his bottle. He was so full of energy with all limbs flying and wore some of the biggest smiles.

Fun With Auntie T

Declan loves his Auntie T.
Mommy and Daddy joined Uncle Scott, Auntie T, Madison and Josh to watch Survivor upstairs. This meant that little Declan cuddled with Auntie T. He smiled, he tried to talk and made funny faces and he stared at her the entire time. He couldn't have appeared happier.

Mommy's Birthday

Today was Mommy's Birthday. Uncle Scott took us all out for lunch at a Sushie restaurant. Declan was such a good little man. He was awake the entire time in the restaurant yet did not cry or make a sound. After we had finished our lunch he had a little drink of his milk before going back into his seat. Such a mellow, sweet baby. Never a problem he cooperated so we could run to the grocery store on the way home. In the evening cousins Madison and Josh had some visit time while we had chocolate Birthday cake. The best moment of the day for Mommy was getting Declan up out of bed in the morning; he was alert with a huge smile when he was first picked up. A great thing to receive in the morning.

Arm Waves With Intent

Today Declan demonstrated that he can focus on a particular thing. He was staring at the suspended lion on his activity mat and then proceeded to wave his closest arm at it. Eventually through determination he managed to hit the lion a few times. That is, until he wiggled away from its reach due to play and excitement. Little Declan also drank 6 oz of formula before going down to bed at 9:40pm for the first time.

Cool Daddy's Wear Snugli's

Declan was so excited to join Mommy and Daddy on a shopping adventure today without the stroller. Daddy sported the Snugli so Declan could be up in the action the entire time. All the ladies hearts were melting at the sight of Daddy and Declan.

This mornig Declan spent some time with his brand new activity mat. First he spent about 15 minutes on his belly then he enjoyed about 1/2 an hour smiling while waving arms and legs on his back. Toys were moving and Declan frequently took in his reflection in the mirror to his pleasure. All in all, a pretty good day for Declan and it had been a good night for Mommy since he had slept 5 hours straight then another 3. So nice.

Makin' Mommy Proud

Today Declan's Auntie T threw a little baby shower for Mommy. Dressed in a little blue and white striped sleeper Declan was a little angel for company. He was passed around by all of the lovely guests, all the while he slept, smiled or drank his bottle. Mommy was so very pleased that Declan was his usual sweet self. When the party was over he passed out in his cousin Madison's lap, it was a big day for the little man.

Cat Tails & Wetlands

Today Declan watched as Mommy posted frogs, turtles, cat tails and worms on his green walls-a gift from Dee. Then Daddy hung a poster of The Muppets staring Kermit The Frog of course, see there's a theme there. Lots of colourful images for Declan to look at. Then in keeping with the theme of things found near wetlands Declan proceeded to pee everywhere...twice. Way to go little man!

Growth Spurt?

Today was an eat, sleep, eat, sleep, cranky pants kind of day. Mr. Good must be going through his six week growth spurt. What will tomorrow bring?

Social Calendar

Little Declan is a very social little man. On the evening of March 20th he was hanging out with the neighbours upstairs and he visited without Mommy or Daddy: he stayed out until 11:20pm.
Then on the evening of March 21st he hung out with Grandma May until midnight. Since the previous day had knocked him out somewhat he mostly slept this evening but he was still smiles and cuddles.

My OWN Room

Declan is so excited, he now has his very own room. Leaf green and spacious, Declan no longer sleeps at the foot of Mommy & Daddy's bed. Grandma May even built Declan's dresser today, his very own. A smart little cookie, Grandma and Mommy could not hide on Declan who would spie them each time they tried to peak on him from his doorway. Awake nearly all day Declan has been nearly all smiles and chatter with a brief pass out on Mommy for about an hour while Daddy and Grandma went out to pick up dinner. Declan's new home is coming together.

Biggest Adventure Yet

Today was Declan's biggest day yet. Our family moved from Ottawa to Milton to live with Declan's Autie Teresa, Uncle Scott and cousins Madison and Josh. Six hour car ride and hours of moving. Now he is snuggled up with his Aunt and sleeping ever so soundly.

Grandparents Day

Declan is now fast asleep. He had a great day today. Mommy and Daddy had lots of work to do for the big move tomorrow to Milton. To help out Declan visited all four grandparents; Grandma and Grandpa Gale were at Grandma and Grandpa May's house so this was a perfect day for visits. Declan was awake most of his visit and entertained with smiles all around. He is becoming quite the social butterfly. Now big sleeps for tomorrows big move.

Waterdown Visitors

Today Declan had visitors from Waterdown; Grandma and Grandpa Gale. Declan was very good for them as they watched over him while Mommy & Daddy continued packing for Monday's big move. Sweet part: after they left for the night little Declan's hands smelled of Grandma's perfume from cuddles.

Lazy Friday

After such an active Thursday Declan took it easy. Really easy. Friday came and went with little notice as he slept nearly the entire day away. All that after sleeping 9 hours through the night with only two bottles to break it up. A nice warm bath at 10pm and a bottle and Declan officially called it a day. Good night sweet Prince.

Eyes Wide Open

Well little Declan was awake almost the entire day. He was smiling and social. Declan tried ever so hard to keep his eyes open for Grandma's whole visit. Then, even in the evening he was wide awake and Daddy was able to watch Declan working so hard to hold his head up. He even lifted his little chest up. Mommy & Daddy are so proud. Now it is after 11pm and Declan has finally tucked in for the night and we'll see if his active day leads to a good nights sleep.

First Adventure Without Mommy & Daddy

Declan had his first babysitting event. While Daddy was at work and Mommy had a Doctor appointment Declan was at Grandma May's house with his cousin Alex. Declan was very good and slept. After Mommy's appointment Grandma and Alex had the chance to witness Declan's big smiles for the first time. Later in the evening Declan was a little gas machine, it's a good thing he is so sweet.
