Star Wars

No sleeping in for Declan this morning. I had to wake him up at 6:20am and give him his morning bottle so he could get changed and ready for Kelly's. he acts all excited to be going while we're home then happily kicks his legs while I'm getting him into the car then the little tired man just stars off into nothing the ride over like he's none too pleased. Everything is good once we get there and it's back to smiles, kicks, waves and bounces. Declan was sitting on the floor when one of Kelly's sons came over and showed Declan his pet hamster Star Wars. Declan was so happy to see him. He bravely reached out to pat him but it was a bit rough so I had to keep him from trying a second time. He sure enjoyed seeing him. I had to run off to work then so it was kisses and goodbye to my happy little boy.

Daddy picked Declan up at 3:30pm and all reports from Kelly were that he was great all day. Dady even told me about Declan's giggle feat as he tried to put him his car seat. For no reason he could determine Declan just got them and a giggling commenced. I hope to understand his jokes someday.

May be in for a Rough Couple Days

I was home with Declan today so it was morning bottle and then bathtime for little D...and Hunter was there for the occasion.  Declan is always so happy to see his Kitty and when you say "Kitty Kitty" to Declan he will very quietly repeat "Ki".

Declan was all freshened up and ready to join his buddy Owen at Skedaddle Kids for some fun.  We were a bit early so Declan played with a toy near the entrance and waited for his friend to arrive.

Then they had a quick lunch and were then ready for some fun in the ball pit!!

They played on the carpet for a bit together.  Owen is moble so he comes in for visits then ventures back around.  I put Declan on the slide for a couple turns (holding onto him of course) and he liked it.  Yay! Then heh played with my iPhone for a bit and when I took it away Declan had a baby meltdown.  Tears all over and snot running down his face.  Geeezzz kid...just a phone.

In the evening Daddy and I had a good look inside Declan's mouth and it would appear that there is more than one tooth just about breaking through the gums.  No wonder our little guy has been a bit cranky.  That's fair.  He's certainly more good than difficult.  During dinner tonight he put his finger near his nose and Daddy said "Don't put your finger in your nose" so Declan put his finger in his nose.  I laughed.  It was pretty darn funny as he discovered it.

When I was getting Declan into his jammie's for bedtime I chcnged him on the living room carpet.  He was all giggly and wiggly so we played and with just his diaper on I rolled him onto his tummy and he laughed and laughed.  He is good at holding up his upper body and now he enjoys it.  This went on for about 15 minutes and then I finished getting him dressed and gave him a bedtime bottle.  Sweet pea passed out on my lap. Amazing.

Late Start

I had to leave for work before Declan got out of bed this morning so I didn't see him until I got home from work but Daddy was home today so he got to get Declan out of bed.  Usually Declan is up at 6:3apm but this morning about 7:10am he made some babble noises and then went right back to sleep.  Daddy was in his room walking around putting things away, grabbing what he needed and Declan just layed there passed out cold.  He must have been such a sleepy boy.  Finally just after 7:30am Declan finally got up for Daddy-Declan day.  Even with a nice sleep-in Declan took a great hour long morning nap. 

In addition to trying to feed us his snacks he is also finding joy is holding them over the edge of his high chair and then dropping them when you notice. Oh Monkey...you're clever.

This evening when I got home from work it was the first time I'd seen Declan since droppin him off at Daycare yesterday early morning.  He was so happy to see me.  He even squealed a sweet hiIts gh pitched squeal of delight.  Arms were a wavin'. Heart warming. 

I was home early enough that I was able to give Declan his beef, vegetable, spagetti dinner and he ate every bit (had sweet potatoe for lunch with Daddy) and of course he had some fruit for desert which he gobbled up.  It's so cute seeing his dinner all over his face after he's done.  Such a big boy...but still such a baby.

We put Declan down to bed together in his sleep sack all cozy and warm. 

Running a Bit...

Daddy picked Declan up from daycare today. On the drive home our little man was rubbing his nose. When the got home they stopped for a brief hello with Uncle Scott. During the little exchange Uncle Scott said "I think his nose is running a little" to which Daddy said "oh I'll get it when we get downstairs".

So Daddy gets Declan inside and sets him down which is when he finally notices the biggest booger ever just sitting on Declan's top lip. I don't think that's running a little, seems the nose nearly turned inside out!

Sweet Naptime

It was Daddy-Declan Day with a short visit with Auntie T so Daddy could make an appointment. Well our little man was fighting sleep while with his Aunt. So she scooped him up, cuddled him tight and it was lights out...for an hour. At one point Auntie T, Uncle Scott and Daddy were all chatting when Declan opened his eyes briefly and was right back out.

And our little guy keeps spending more and more time on his belly. He spins around pretty good but still waiting for official forward or backward momentum. Could he soon.

Tears in the Eyes

This evening just after Daddy dressed Declan in his pajamas as he was holding him in his arms I walked up to them to say "Hi".  Declan reached over, flicked me from under the chin with his backhand and laughed. I said "what do you think you're doing?" And then proceeded to very softly and with fabulous sound effect flicked his chin just the same. We'll be thought this was hilarious. He started laughing a big hearty laugh, which in turn made us laugh. I did it a couple times in a row and each time we all lugged hard and longer. Finally Declan's entire face changed, he had dimples in places I'd never seen before, he was laughing so hard he couldn't stop and neither could I. Then we were just laughing at each other laughing and Daddy was laughing too. I looked closely and there we have it, Declan, just like me, had tears in his eyes from laughing so hard. It was such an amazing moment. Very nice that we three we're able to share it together.

He Likes People

Couldn't wait to get Declan up this morning. It had been so long since I'd seen him. As usual all smiles and sweetness when he saw me. Gave Declan his morning bottle and then we hung out for an hour before Grandma Gale arrived and I had to head out for work.

Declan is so chatty and interactive. Grandma had a great time with him. She called me at work to let me know how wonderful he is. We are lucky he's such an easy kid. I am reminded of the fact that when we were pregnant I used to say that I'd hoped he would be kind and comfortable with who he is and not be uncomfortable in social situations. We'll I think he turned out just perfect. He's such a sweetie, who likes everyone and he's lost any shyness he'd displayed before. Declan is a people person.

After Daddy got home and Grandma was on her way there was lots of playtime. Declan will often play with his toy, so intrigued and then suddenly look around for Daddy, smile at him and then go back to his toy.

When I got home from work today he was so happy to see me. We might have had only one hour before he was off to bed but it was a great hour. Declan spent about 10 minutes of it on his belly, kicking his legs and trying to reach for things. I'm so proud of our little monkey.
