Friends Again

Thankfully the rest of the week was better.

Broden picked Declan in the afternoon to help with attendance.

He participated in Jungle Sport by going on the zip line and some little swing thing...I don't know just glad he was brace enough to try a couple things.

Today when I got home he said his day was "awesome". Now this weekend I will miss all the fun since I'll be working but glad the boys have a movie date tomorrow. Tickets already purchased. Looking forward to hearing all about it when I get home.

The Worst

Breaks my heart.

Declan did not have a good day at school.

Broden didn't want to play with him.

Declan is really sad about this.

Tomorrow Broden is the Super student. If he doesn't pick Declan to help him with attendance I'm going to die.

This Week

Fun moments from this week:

Wednesday Declan was the Super Student. He picked Broden to go with him in the morning to the office and then he picked Izak for the afternoon. Just so happy he has friends.

Now when we were laying side by side in his bed as I was about to start reading his bedtime story he called me Broden. Yes. Me. His Mommy. He called me Broden by accident. Then he laughed and laughed and laughed.

Other funny things he said. Daddy was just coming in from putting some recycling in the garage when Declan walked up to him and said "so as I was saying."

Because he's got the soul of a 50 year old.

But a shy 50 year old. We arrived Saturday afternoon at a friends home where he knew there would be a little girl his age. He was so scared. Said he was shy and I had to pick him up to go inside. We introduced the kids but they took about 30 minutes and some silly putty to warm up to each other.

And then there were tears when it was time to go. Funny guy.

The Gross

Declan was pretty tired this morning when Daddy woke him up for school. As usual he scooped him up and carried him into our bed so I could lay next to him. Declan barely opened his eyes and said "I slept a longer time than usual. I was super super super dooper tired." We're pretty sure with the amount he's been eating and how tired he is that we're in the middle of a growth spurt.

Getting Declan's lunch ready I filled his water bottle. He eagerly grabbed it from me and attempted to take a sip. The water wasn't coming up the straw.

"I can't get any."

I told him I'd see what was wrong and proceeded to try and take a sip from the bottle myself.

"Ewwww!"

Really? Eww? I told him I'm trying to find out what's wrong and that I'd wash it off.

I took it apart and cleaned it off. I adjusted how the straw was connected inside and then tested it again by trying to take a sip. Success! I then washed it off and handed it back to him.

Looking at the mouth piece he asks "Is your stuff still on there?"

At 5 to him I'm already gross!?!

Fit Model

My monkey visited me at work today. He tried on a few different thing so I could take pictures and show him off. He was excited to participate but a little shy when it was time to go show people. He did pick out some cool black shades while he was there.

This afternoon Declan had a nap. He slept really good and Daddy had to wake him up at 4pm. Declan was all tucked up with his face down. Daddy was talking to him to wake him. He told him that Star Wars Rogue one was coming out on Apple TV soon and that he was excited to watch it with him and see Darth Vader.

Declan didn't move a muscle, face still face down in the bed but then he starts humming the Imperial March. I guess the monkey is excited for Darth Vader too!

Snow Day

D: When I am big I'm going to be a Police Officer

Me: Oh a Police Officer? How come?

D: They catch the bad guys. They put them in a prison cell. The bad guy has to do something I'm never going do.

Me: What's that?

D: They have to go down the toilet to escape. (Proceeds to show me how they'd put their arms close to their sides and go down through the pipes...you known...if they could)

In addition to telling me he'd be a Police Officer one day he showed me some Lego creation he'd built and whispered to me that he's an Architect.

Now what a rough day it was for the Muffin Man. He's on March break and supposed to be at Y Camp all week. After a great first day yesterday camp was closed today due to some snow. Declan was stuck at home with me but it was still a work day. I had 4.87 hours of calls today and some emails and admin work to complete. He was so sad he didn't have a kid to play with. He had a hard time leaving me alone, he sang in the background, he drove toys over my legs, he laid behind me and watch videos, he talked while I was trying to listen to someone on a call and he used toys to surprise me. All...day...long. I did have the best lunch break ever though. We ate together and then played a Logic game and then Guess Who (3 rounds and twice we selected the same character).

Really hope the kid gets back to his little friends tomorrow.

Nothing Much

Declan told me this evening that they now have two fish in his classroom. I asked what colour they were and he told me "one is orange and one is red." He then added "Orange is not a colour I like because it's not my favourite when it looks like cheese!"

Declan also shared this evening unsolicited that he likes a girl in his class named Olivia. He likes her because she is pretty. When I asked Declan if they play together he said "no! She's a girl and we don't play with girls!" And he followed that up with "Sometimes I play with her."

Stubborn

This morning was Declan's last theater class. We dropped him off and then we were invited to participate in the last 20 minutes of his class. Finally after 10 weeks we would have the opportunity to see some of what he's been learning.

Or so we thought.

We know he's been learning. Daddy heard him just the other day loudly singing a song from Moana that he'd learnt in his class.

Today though?

Nothing.

There were tears and that is all. Declan simply would not even try to show us anything.

Not a fantastic morning.

This afternoon he had his classmates 6th Birthday party to attend. 14 kids and 7 were from his class. Declan was excited to be at Skedaddle Kids and even more excited that his BFF Broden was also there. About Two months ago Broden moved to our area and joined Declan's class. They hit it off right away. The two of them act very much alike. It was fun watching them run around together. It sure will be sad when the school year ends and Broden moves to grade 1 and Declan will be in Senior Kindergarten.
